Bölöni-Antal wooden house
Kezdi chair Cernat Cernat, Jud. Covasna
The house was built for Rákosi Dénes notary in the second half of the 19th century, and sold by his son in 1920 to Bölöni Antal, who about that time married Hadnagy Hermina from Zăbala. They planted a walnut-tree in the yard, which is now enormous. The exact date of the house’s construction is unknown, but on the beam of the barn the year 1882can be seen.
Two families lived in the building through decades: in the part from the street, Bölöni Antal and his wife, in the inner part their son Bölöni Ernő and his wife Keresztes Sarolta, teacher. The current owner, Horovitz Ernő, is planning the renovation of the building and wants to transform it into a guest-house.
On the eastern side of the Bodoki mountain, in the valley of the Cernat creek is the village formed by Cernatu de Jos and Cernatu de Sus. Cernat is one of the villages of the county which currently is developing spectacularly. The new storey houses, renovated mansions and ornated Szekler gates indicate the vitality of the local community. In the shadows of the new houses we can find a few specific chalets. One of these is the Bölöni Antal house from Cernatu de Sus, deserted for years, in the neighborhood of the Hanna Pension.
